As the war in Syria surpasses 10 years, the need for humanitarian assistance has drastically increased. Food in Syria is scarce. A collapsed economy means sever food shortages and inflated prices beyond what a refugee can afford At least half of the people affected by the refugee crisis in Syria are children. Stop them from starving this Ramadan. Provide a Syrian Refugee family with security this Ramadan so that they can focus on their fasts knowing they have food at the beginning and end of the day!

Could you survive a Ramadan like this? Before the war broke out 10 years ago, Ramadan was a joyful time of year! We didn’t eat in excess, however food was plentiful for us to enjoy at Iftar time. Now, we starve even when we are not fasting. Throughout the Blessed Month of Ramadan we try to remain grateful for what we have, but it is difficult. We share a stale piece of bread between us at Iftar time and drink dirty water. We have no idea where our provision will come from the next day but we intend to keep our fasts anyway. We struggle to feel the joy we felt in Ramadan 10 years ago as we wonder what will kill us first, the war, the dirty water or starvation itself.
The Prophet ﷺ said “Whoever gives Iftar to a fasting person will have a similar reward without decreasing the reward of the one who is fasting in the slightest” Tirmidhi
