Bosnia and Herzegovina, the closest European Muslim country to us, often attracts visitors who admire its breathtaking scenery. However, the harsh reality is that its painful history still causes
suffering to this day. Here’s how we help:
Food Parcels
Our organization in Bosnia is dedicated to providing essential aid to impoverished families in need. These families, who are often elderly and without access to public healthcare or medication, are means-tested to determine their eligibility for our food parcel program. With the majority of their government funding being used for medicine and healthcare, we aim to alleviate the burden on these families by covering their food costs. By doing so, we offer them the peace of mind of not having to choose between sustenance and medical care. As of now, we sponsor several families, but we are always looking for more sponsors. A regular sponsorship of £40 per month would cover the food costs for a family for an entire month.
Aid Drops
In addition to our food parcel program, we also provide aid drops to families in Republic Srpska who face the constant threat of displacement from oppressive Serbian forces. These aid drops, done before Ramadan, aim to provide these families with hope and safety during a particularly difficult time.
Greenhouse Project
Our organization also supports sustainable change through our greenhouse program in Kacuni. We currently have six greenhouses where families grow strawberries, which they then sell in the markets to cover their living costs. With plans to set up an additional nine greenhouses, we hope to increase the benefit for the suffering Bosnian families in the area.
Ultrasound Scanner
Lastly, in Kacuni at the Mesudija Poliklinika, we are proud to offer an ultrasound scanner that diagnoses cancer, ulcers, and other medical issues for over twenty thousand people. Without this local ultrasound scanner, these individuals would have to travel to Sarajevo, which is a 45-minute journey away and would be incredibly difficult for the elderly without transport. Our commitment to providing essential aid and support to impoverished families in Bosnia is unwavering.
This is how we support the suffering in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are our closest Muslim neighbours — that means they have a right over us. So help us to help them.
